Improv for Teens

February 25 & March 18 • 11am-12:30pm (1.5 hours)

Improvisation is a great tool for young actors and actresses—it helps them with spontaneity, listening skills and onstage communication. It is also valuable for non-actors, encouraging collaboration with peers, improving listening/communication skills and quick on your feet thinking. In this class, teens will participate in interactive and lively improvisation exercises and games in an environment that is a safe space for them to take risks, make mistakes, learn about themselves and build confidence. Most importantly, of course, they will have fun and laughter is a guarantee!

Mimic of Mime

March 11 • 12pm-2pm (2 hours)

Mime is the brother and sister of pantomime, which is the ability to convey a song, story or artistic presentation with hand gestures, body movements and facial expressions. Both the white face and gloves are worn as symbols of silence and to further create an illusion for the audience. This creative technique allows the artist to share their moods without saying a word. Students will learn the history behind miming and how the art form is used in today's performances.
